For current OEF users, you will notice a new look and operational interface. This upgrade was required for several reasons:
1. Migrate OEF website to its own server to insure better security and reliable operation.
2. Replace old/outdated content management system to a modern PHP/MySQL-based solution.
3. Establish a web-based (i.e., message board) for discussion groups that replaces current e-mail lists and automatic mailings.
4. Implement necessary format and content changes related to:
    * the operation of register(s) for S-57 data producer codes
    * new S-57 objects/attributes
    * new product specs or applications profiles associated with the future IHO S-100 standard for digital hydrographic data.

Most (not all) of the functions and capabilities of the old OEF have been migrated to the new OEF. During the next few months, there will be further changes and upgrades. During this time, we ask for your patience. However, we welcome any comments or suggestions for improvements as the OEF continues to evolve to meet the needs of the ECDIS community.

In addition to being a “discussion forum” on ECDIS-related issues, the OEF serves other functions, including:
    - review/register new “user-defined” S-57 objects
    - register private producer organization codes
    - distribute ECDIS-related freeware/shareware software and S-57 datasets
    - organize workshops on ECDIS-related matters
    - provide a link with the IHO website, and to other organizations involved in ECDIS

Any person can access and view the various OEF sections. It is open to all. However, to participate in one of the OEF Discussion Forums, you will need to establish a User Account. Instructions on how to do this are located on the Discussion Forum section.
